I meet Brian Swan, during the 1988 bi-centennial Tall Ship where I was working as a volunteer looking after 160 vessels (ended up being 2I/C of the berthing area. Got a personnel note and Bicentennial Tall ship medal for the work I did.
Upset a lot of Officers who compained back to my ship that I was saying I was a Officer (I never did).

Shep and I had a yarn to John Buttle yesterday who was in the forth intake. Correct - Brian Swan was a Dockyard Shipwright apprentice. I worked with a Dockyard Chippie by the name of Dallas Smith who purchased Brian Swans toolbox off him when he was about to leave the Dockyard and join Nirimba. I happened to see Dallas Smith not long after Brian Swan became CO of Nirimba and he asked that I pass on a message to Brian Swan - Dallas felt he had paid too much for the toolbox and I had the opportunity to relay Dallas's message.

I am still not finding any evidence that Brian Lawrence Swan has crossed the bar. And as Ned said, Brian was born in 1941, so he could not have died at 99yrs of age.
