Lets face it Guys... Realistically we only have two Saturdays in that spread, the 3rd or the 10th of January, and many are going to still be on holidays for the 3rd. That leaves the 10th.
Sorry Paul, looks like you'll just have to bring her along to meet 'The Boys'...
(Sundays aren't really all that practical... limits your venues and many of us have to work next day... I'm back at work on the 5th.)
So will we lock in the date...?
As for a venue... the recent 'Gun Plot' Smokey didn't quite make it to Darling Harbour, so I'll e-mail all of you interested 'starters' the stuff from Pier 26 Bar, we'll be right across from the Vampire and 'Burgo's Tube'...
Any thoughts...?

Rick mate I am there and the 10th sounds good to me. Oh we could go for a walk through the old Onslow perhaps? Anyway just to sit and drink with friens is good enough.

10th sounds good to me.
I will be off line until Xmas eve. Doing the great Freeport-Miami-LA-Sydney-Brisbane trek courtesy of Qantas and American Airlines.
Merry Xmas
Steve

Back to the Topic at hand... (That's different to 'in hand' Ned...!)
I just received the following fom Muppet74 this morning...
Rick, I've just arrived in Sydney. Will give you a call on Friday or Saturday. Just finished (a wonderful) holiday with the wifes family. Looking forward to catching up. Steve _________________ Steve Wilson January 1974 AMTP - January 1997 WOMTP5 S116012 Perth, Tobruk, Launceston, Bendigo, Sydney, Melbourne. Nirimba, Penguin, MHQ, Naval Support Command, Somalia.
N.B. Some words in Steve's PM have been changed to protect his family (jewels...!)
...to which I replied:
Hi Steve,
I'm logged in from Ned's place on St. Georges Basin (Nowra), where I'll be staying until Sunday Morning (4th) before heading back to Sydney...
As reception on the mobile is poor down here, if you want to call before Sunday, I'm on Ned's fax number (...!)
Regarding our get together on the 10th, I've got something in mind that should appeal to the masses...
One of the young guys at work figured out that acording to their website, there are 15 pubs in 'The Rocks' area, and coincidentally he and his mates have mapped out a 'pub crawl' for the area, and are doing their run on the 10th as well... He's had 'T' shirts made up for his team and all...
If you and the team are interested, I think
'The Inaugaral RAN Skilled Hands Sydney Rocks Pub Crawl'
could be a goer... What do you reckon...?
I'll post the suggestions on the Website to see what sort of feedback I get, but if they want polo shirts of the event, (around $25.00, for style: see our NYE post,) with a list of all The Rocks' Pubs on the back, and the RAN Skilled Hands logo on the pocket, we've got to move fast... (Our screen printer usually requires 10 days notice...!)
Personally, I'n not one for clinging to the addage: "It can't be done...", but we need NUMBERS AND POLO SHIRT SIZES NOW if we're going to make it...!
Alternatively, we can just do the Darling Harbour run as suggested before: "As for a venue... the recent 'Gun Plot' Smokey didn't quite make it to Darling Harbour, so I'll e-mail all of you interested 'starters' the stuff from Pier 26 Bar, we'll be right across from the Vampire and 'Burgo's Tube'... "
I'll post it and see what sort of response we get (although something comes to mind about camels and committees,) before locking it away...
SO GUYS, IF YOUR KEEN, WE NEED NUMBERS OF COMMITTED STARTERS, AND YOUR POLO SHIRT SIZES, A.S.A.P. ...!

Rick I am in mate but will have to check the finances with regards to the shirt. Just for your records I like a xxxL for room.
I will monitor this string for start time and location otherwise see you there.

Hello everyone. As Rick said I have just made it back into Sydney after a never to be forgotten holiday with the family of she who must be obeyed. Really glad that I flew 18000 or so kilometers to do it.
Anyways back to the subject.
The 10th is a goer for me and I am the same shirt size that I was back in my Nirimba days, X-Large. Happy to meet up anywhere.
Happy New Year,
Steve

Thanks for the e-mail Ned. Haven't been able to spend my usual time on the site, so here is the good and bad news
The good
I will be there. It is a case of getting the priorities in the right order.
My size Rick, if it is not too late, is large. No kidding, I like loose shirts.
The bad
I have finally accepted the position as Captain of Goulburn Golf Club, hence time is not an abundant commodity now. It's a long story so will only tell it if any one has an interest.
Looking forward to the 10th
Cheers
Roger
