I knew Dave Cotton quite well (January 1972 last Mobi intake.) A real gentleman and he loved his rugby. There is a photo of the Nirimba 1974 rugby side in the main photo gallery and Dave is a member. RIP Dave as he has gone to the gunbuster's heaven

I knew Dave Cotton also, from Nirimba and Derwent.

A great bloke, gone far too soon.

Vale Big Fella!

I first met Mick Scully when he was a POWTR at Supply School Cerberus, when I was doing my Writer's Course back in '77. Also worked with him in 1980 when posted to Cerberus working in the Supply School Library (wasn't that fun ... doing amendments in ABR's all day, every day).

Mick was certainly one of the Writer's Branch more "colourful" character's and I believe that both he and his identical twin brother Pat (WOWTR Ret'd), got up to a lot of mischief when they were both young Recruits. If one got run in, the other would "share the load" so that the one on chooks would get a chance of stepping ashore.

The both have a very, very "dry" sense of humour and Mick could crack me up each and every time!   He was one of the funniest blokes I knew in the Writer's Branch.

Vale Mick ... rest your oars. :angel5:

Cheers,
Bobcat :cat:

REMEMBRANCE DAY - 2005

Don't forget to take some time today to remember those service men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice, in both war and peace time, serving their country.

LEST WE FORGET

In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army

IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

LEST WE FORGET ...

I just received an e-mail from Nigel Baird-orr informing me that Paul Alexander MEIKLEJOHN passed away on 30 April 2005 from heart disease.

I served with Paul at one stage and we had some enjoyable times together.

Rest in peace old mate.
