Received the following from Peter Maher tonight:

It is with regret that The HMAS BRISBANE Association advises of the passing of a former shipmate

R64048 LSTD S.N. (Stan) Wardle, 56, died in WA on 2nd July, 2004, as a result of leukaemia.

Stan saw Vietnam service on HMAS SYDNEY in 1965, and on BRISBANE for the 1971 gunline deployment.

Blue skies and gentle breezes Stan
May you rest in peace.

Peter Maher, JP
National Secretary
HMAS BRISBANE Association

The bar takings have taken big hit last week.
Col. Ritchie was found dead at his home. It appears Col's big heart finally gave out.

His funeral will be held at Hastings RSL on Thursday 4 August.

Finished with main engines, shut all stops.
Another of the purple empire members has racked his cue.
His has drawn his last beer issue and dropped his short leave card in.
Completed his last draft out, and posted to where we cannot go.

He is at his eternal rest.

Farewell Col, Ride on Ride Free.

I'm shocked to hear that Doc has gone. He was my Chief Tiff on the Barricade, we had a lot of laughs together and he could sing a great song! I always remember a big night out on Brampton Island way back in '75 and Doc did a grand recital of the Chandlers Shop to a standing ovation which brought even more cheers when Graham Keys (2nd Tiff) stood up and tipped the tables over shattering about 50 glasses!!

Smooth seas and fair winds Doc.

I know he was not a MOBI in the strictest term but he was at times objectionable.

Sad to note that in the Herald Sun in Melbourne today that it is reported the Derek Berry passed away yesterday.

A big man in all ways and despite being a parade ground square basher a really nice gentleman.

Stand at ease,
Stand easy. Butch

Yes Piquet, he wasn't a MOBI or MUPPET, but anyone who came in contact with Butch certainly would remember him. A voice to rattle the drill hall windows, but a compassionate man. A stoker worst nightmare if caught walking across HIS parade ground. But at the same time he had a love of the theatre.

I got to know him through his endeavours in building the Cerberus Museum.

He used to bank at my wives branch at Karingal and she commented one day, he for all the world a big gruff British Bulldog, but he was always polite and pleasant to deal with.

Rest oars old friend for it is your turn to sleep.
The world is a little bit colder today with your passing.

RIP WOQMG "Butch" Berry
